Breathing. It’s what keeps us alive, how we know that we and others are alive, it stops, we stop.
It’s not often that we think about breathing or taking breaths and all the subsequent actions that happen before, during and after in our bodies. My knowledge of biology is a lot rusty so I will leave that to others to explain and discuss and instead I am thinking about what happens in the spaces in between, before, during and after we take our breathes.
As I think about it everything happens, our seconds, minutes, hours, and days happen, life happens in those spaces. It’s simple, breath and live. It’s only when we start looking around and thinking about the quality of our lives that things get sticky and questions arise. I mean living is more than breathing, right?
The beauty of this whole thing is that we have a measure of control and choice when it comes to how we live in those spaces between breaths. Choose wisely.
